A truth haven of peace stretching over 178km from Decize to Auxerre in Burgundy, the Canal du Nivernais with its 122 locks, remarkable bridges, three tunnels, a ladder of 16 locks, have the second position of the most popular channel for boating and cycling tourism. Very appreciated for its natural and preserved environment, the Nivernais is known by visitors for its diverse landscapes.
Your route mainly follows the towpath and bicycle path (80%). You will cycle on back roads to explore the surroundings : scattered in the range of landscapes, pretty villages and their churches, chapels, wash-houses, or cellars for a wine tasting…
